Why Some Dogs Are Placed Later
With each litter, we intentionally keep back multiple puppies to grow out before making long-term program decisions. Once we determine which dogs will remain in our breeding or performance plans, the others are thoughtfully matched with homes that suit their individual needs, temperaments, and goals.

This approach allows us to make informed, ethical placement decisions rather than rushing choices based on age alone.
What Families Can Expect
Older puppies and young adults placed from LakeHaus typically have a strong foundation already in place. These dogs are often kennel trained, well-started in obedience, extensively socialized, and accustomed to daily structure and handling. Many have also been introduced to birds and evaluated for various sports and working venues.

For many families, an older puppy offers the best of both worlds—the joy of adding a young dog to the home with the added benefit of a solid start already established.

These dogs are:
-
Thoughtfully grown out and evaluated
-
Assessed for temperament and structure
-
Started in foundational training and daily routines
-
Carefully matched to the right home
