AKC Registered German Shorthaired Pointers
Thoughtfully bred German Shorthaired Pointers
for versatility, soundness, and real life.
LakeHaus Kennels is a small, purpose-driven breeding program based in Nikiski, Alaska. We focus on producing structurally sound, mentally stable GSPs with the drive to work — and the ability to settle when the work is done.
We don’t breed for trends, volume, or quick outcomes.
Every decision we make is intentional — from health testing and structure to temperament, training, and placement. Some litters are kept back. Some aren’t. Some puppies are suited for high-level work, others for quieter lives.
What matters is that each dog is bred thoughtfully and placed honestly, with the long term in mind.

Preservation.
LakeHaus Kennels is based in Nikiski, Alaska, and preservation is the lens I use when making breeding decisions — not a label, and not a marketing term.
For me, preservation means being honest about what makes the German Shorthaired Pointer a good dog to live with long term. Structure that holds up. Temperaments that are stable and thoughtful. Dogs that enjoy working, but can also shut it off and live comfortably in a home long-term. Those traits aren’t optional in my program — they’re the baseline.
Our dogs live with us. They train, compete, hunt, and then come home and exist as part of the household. They aren’t kennel dogs, and they aren’t bred for a single narrow purpose. I want dogs that can do their jobs and still be sound, sane, and enjoyable years down the road.
Puppies are raised in our home and exposed to normal daily life from the start. Confidence, resilience, and adaptability don’t happen by accident — and they don’t develop in isolation. From the beginning, these puppies are raised as future partners, with the expectation that they’ll grow into capable, balanced dogs wherever they land.

Purposeful.
LakeHaus Kennels is a small breeding program by design. We typically plan one to two litters per year, and only when a pairing makes sense for the dogs involved and for the long term goals of the program.
Puppies are raised in our home, in the middle of everyday life. They’re handled daily, exposed to normal household routines, and given early experiences that support confidence and adaptability — not just for puppyhood, but for the years that follow.
Our goal isn’t to produce dogs for a single outcome. We want well-rounded German Shorthaired Pointers who can live comfortably as family dogs, while still having the structure, temperament, and drive to succeed in the show ring, performance sports, or the field when given the opportunity.

Healthy & Sound
Health and soundness aren’t marketing points here — they’re part of doing this responsibly. Every dog in our breeding program completes all recommended health testing for the German Shorthaired Pointer before being bred. Not because issues are expected, but because assuming everything is fine isn’t enough.
We care just as much about structure and temperament as we do test results. Correct, functional structure supports longevity and durability, and stable temperaments make dogs easier to live with and train over the long term. These things matter whether a dog ends up in the field, the ring, a performance venue, or simply as a family companion.
Puppies are raised with attention to early development, thoughtful socialization, and age-appropriate exposure, including early bird introduction. The goal isn’t to push puppies toward a specific outcome, but to give them a solid foundation — physically and mentally — so they’re prepared for the lives they’ll live.
