About LakeHaus Kennels

LakeHaus Kennels is dedicated to breeding top-quality German Shorthaired Pointers that excel in the field, in competition, and as cherished family companions. Our goal is to produce truly versatile dogs—equally at home in the field as they are on the couch. We believe that sound temperament, good health, and correct conformation are essential qualities that every LakeHaus dog must possess.

How It All Began

My journey with German Shorthaired Pointers began in 2009 in the most unexpected way. My first GSP, Hank, came to me as a foster — a breed so new to me that I had to look it up in a dog encyclopedia. Hank immediately sparked my love for the breed, and losing him at just 3 ½ years old to health issues was heartbreaking.

A few years later, I brought home Murphy. Without knowing what to look for in a responsible breeder, I purchased him from a backyard breeder who did not health test or prioritize temperament. Sadly, Murphy also developed major health problems and passed away before his fourth birthday.

These early experiences were devastating but also deeply formative. They showed me the critical importance of health testing, sound breeding practices, and stable temperaments. More than anything, they gave me a purpose: to ensure that families who love this breed never have to go through what I did.

This passion led to the founding of LakeHaus Kennels, with the mission of breeding healthy, well-adjusted German Shorthaired Pointers who can excel as companions, hunters, and competitors — and live long, happy lives.

Since our first litter in 2020, we have proudly produced:

We are honored to be the only German Shorthaired Pointer Breeder of Merit in Alaska, and the only breeder in the state completing all health testing required by the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America.
