Our Puppies

Unlike purchasing from pet stores or backyard breeders, working with an ethical breeder is often a more involved process—and one that requires patience. To help you get started, here is a simple guideline of what to expect:

1. Do Your Research. Take time to learn about the breed in depth. Understand not only the many wonderful qualities of German Shorthaired Pointers, but also the challenges they may present. Make sure those challenges are ones you are prepared to embrace and manage.

2. Reach Out. The first step is introducing yourself. You can email me, arrange a phone call, or connect through social media. I enjoy getting to know prospective families and answering questions.

3. Be Patient. Families interested in not just any GSP, but specifically a LakeHaus puppy, should expect a wait of 12–24 months. I breed very selectively, producing only 1–2 litters per year, with great care taken in every pairing.

4. Ask Questions. I encourage curiosity. Whether it’s something you’ve read about the breed or a question about my dogs specifically, I am always happy to provide honest information. The more I learn about potential homes, the more confident and excited I am to place one of my puppies with them.

In the end, my goal is always the same: to ensure each puppy has the very best start and is matched with a family that will cherish them for a lifetime.

Puppy Information

What is the cost of a Puppy?

The price of a LakeHaus puppy is $2,500, with a $500 non-refundable holding fee applied toward the final purchase price. This fee secures your place on my shortlist once a litter is planned.

This price reflects the investment I make in the care, health, and development of every German Shorthaired Pointer in my program. From premium nutrition and routine veterinary care to show and trial entries, obedience classes, and extensive health testing, no corners are ever cut. Every dollar is reinvested into ensuring my dogs—and the puppies they produce—receive the very best.

Once puppies are born, I contact families who have been shortlisted. Holding fees are non-refundable, as I ask for genuine commitment from the homes I carefully select. Raising a litter requires tremendous time, dedication, and love, and my commitment does not end when the puppies leave—it is lifelong for each puppy I produce. I want every LakeHaus family to feel comfortable reaching out to me at any time, for any reason. Choosing forever homes is one of the most important responsibilities I carry, and I do not take it lightly.

All companion puppies are placed on limited AKC registration with a non-breeding agreement and are required to be spayed or neutered at the age outlined in my contract.

Health Testing

I firmly believe in setting my puppies up with the best possible success in their futures. Because of this, I ensure to extensively health test my GSP and carefully select Sire's paying in mind of their own health test results and ensure the pairings I have are clear of serious genetic diseases that can affect GSP.

Our GSP are tested/cleared in the following:

  • OFA Hips Xray

  • OFA Elbow Xray

  • OFA Heart (By a veterinary Cardiologist)

  • OFA Eyes

  • DNA Breed Panel

At LakeHaus, I follow the Puppy Culture program when raising my German Shorthaired Pointer puppies, beginning from the moment they are born. From the Neonatal and Transitional stages through the Sensitive Period, I implement proven practices that support early neurological development. These experiences help shape puppies into well-balanced, resilient adults with excellent trainability and the ability to handle stress with confidence.

In addition to Puppy Culture, we also incorporate Early Scent Introduction (ESI) to encourage and strengthen olfactory development. Research has shown that ESI can play a role in enhancing scenting ability, giving our puppies a head start toward success in hunting and scent detection sports, while also enriching their overall sensory development.

Together, these programs provide the best possible foundation for our puppies—whether their future lies as cherished family companions, accomplished hunting partners, or competitors in performance and conformation venues.
